Our corporate culture is based on a passion for innovation and technical excellence.

More than thirty people with different academic and economic backgrounds work at our headquarters in Winterthur in the fields of software and mechanical engineering, research and development, production, sales, customer service as well as corporate finance and administration.

The management team consists of experienced entrepreneurs and senior executives who bring many years of international business and technology experience to our fast-growing company. We live the values of our corporate culture and work tirelessly to help our team grow, grow and be successful.

Management and Board of Directors

Prof. Dr. Nils A. Reinke, co-founder, CEO and member of the Board of Directors (executive)

Nils co-founded Winterthur Instruments in 2011. He has 20 years of professional experience in the field of applied optics. He received his diploma at the Gerhard-Mecator-University Duisburg and received his PhD in physics with distinction at the University of Augsburg. He is a member of the Elite Network Bayern-Alumni and author of more than 100 publications and patents. Since 2007, he has been professor at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) and head of the optoelectronic research laboratory group, which consists of an international team of scientists and engineers. He was head of numerous R&D projects in the field of industrial materials and surface testing (in cooperation with DAX30 and other major European companies). Nils is also a non-executive director of a non-profit organization based in Winterthur. He has received numerous awards and prizes for his work as a scientist and entrepreneur.

Andor Bariska, co-founder, CTO and member of the Board of Directors (executive)

Andor founded Winterthur Instruments AG together with Nils. He has twelve years of professional experience in leading product and software development projects as a senior engineer. Since 2007, Andor Bariska has been a lecturer and project manager at the ZHAW, specializing in the development of numerical methods for data analysis. He holds a diploma in electrical engineering from the Rapperswil University of Applied Sciences and an M. Sc. in mathematics with summa cum laude from ETH Zurich. He has also been awarded various business awards.

Reinhard K. Stary, CFO, Head of Services and Secretary of the Board of Directors

Reinhard has more than twenty years of wide-ranging and diverse management experience. These include CEO, COO, CFO and Chairman/Member of the Board of Directors as well as non-executive directorships in small, medium and large global companies. He graduated from the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration with an M. Sc. and studied violin at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He also holds a dual MBA degree from Columbia University (with Beta Gamma Sigma honours) and the London Business School (with distinction). In March 2016 he was appointed Chartered Director at the Institute of Directors (IoD), UK. He joined Winterthur Instruments AG as a strategic consultant in January 2017 and became CFO and member of the Executive Board in May 2017. Reinhard also holds non-executive directorships in two Zurich-based technology companies.

François Gabella, President of the Board of Directors (non-executive)

François has more than 30 years of executive management and board level leadership experience in medium sized and large international industrial companies having held divisional executive as well as several CEO and BoD positions throughout his distinguished career. After 8 years as CEO and President of LEM SA, headquartered in Switzerland, the global market leader in providing innovative and high-quality solutions for measuring electrical parameters, he recently joined ist Board of Directors. He is also a Board member of several industrial companies. He obtained a M.Sc. in Microtechnics at EPFL and holds an MBA of IMD, Switzerland.

Beat Schillig, member of the Board of Directors (non-executive)

Beat is the founder and president of IFJ Institut für Jungunternehmen and Venturelab. After graduating at University St.Gallen (HSG) he became a serial entrepreneur and business angel investor in various successful startup companies. He was elected as Business Angel of The Year 2011/2012 by SECA, the Swiss Private Equity & Corporate Finance Association.
